What is MFIG?

Manchester Fungal Infections Group (MFIG) is a network of clinical, biomedical and research staff based at several sites across Manchester (UK). Our clinical expertise and patient support activities are centred around the National Aspergillosis Centre (which primarily serves CPA and ABPA). Our research and trials are much broader in scope, ranging from cutting-edge diagnostics to new antifungal treatments to basic mechanisms of disease.

  • Basic research
  • Mycology reference laboratory (MRCM) and diagnostics R&D
  • Specialist clinic for CPA, ABPA and other forms of aspergillosis
  • Patient support groups and resources
  • Clinical trials and applied research

Our communications team runs various informational websites, patient support groups and clinician educational resources. Based in the Education Resource Centre at Wythenshawe Hospital, they receive funding from the Fungal Infection Trust.
